To Whom This May Concern,
The mysterious workforce. Where somehow all the rules must be known but are rarely spoken. The office is a beige jungle where you live off of your own failed and victorious experiences. I hope to help you navigate and in turn you help me navigate as well!
Who am I you ask?! I am an HR Manager who has worked in HR since college (Yikes! A little more than a few years ago). I started my career in HR because I had a passion for business and for people. I wanted to bring those two passions together to help my employees lead the best work life while allowing the business flourish. I know, I was naive. But that naivety still lives within me today! I work very hard to make sure that my employees are set up for success. Not just one type of employee. I have lived through the HR lifestyle in Hospitality, Construction, Engineering, Technology, and lots of hybrid crazy business themes that were not outlined in High School. I believe there is a common knowledge that can be shared from all experiences!
When I first started my career, I was surprised by how dumbfounded my new hires were about some common workplace knowledge items that were completely obvious. Then I was completely dumbfounded when I switched to a new position and realized those unspoken rules changed (how dare they)! Then completely miffed by how many things were the unmentionables. I.E. Taxes, Benefits, write-ups, Email Signature, PTO, laughing at your bosses’ jokes, printer setup, and many more dry terrible and important things.
Follow me to learn something new, laugh at my misery, and share your knowledge. And for you HR Professionals out there trying to make a name in this career, know that I got your back! We will safari through this beige jungle together.
